If it is time for a new adventure, Lake Tahoe might be just the place. While the ski bums look forward to hills of powder during the long Tahoe winter, summer brings out the warmth seekers. There are a lot of boating activities at Lake Tahoe between sailing and kayaking. Ski resorts like Northstar, Heavenly and Squaw stay open in the summer to provide gondola rides, mountain biking and hiking activities.
It is a royal blast for not only the kids at Lassen Volcanic National Park. There are bubbling mud pots, sulphur vents and boiling hot springs to see, all made possible by a real volcano. The volcano has been quiet since the early 1900s, but you can still keep an eye on its activity from safe trails nearby.
Sixty miles northeast of Redding is McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, the spot President Teddy Roosevelt called the 8th World Wonder. The icy cold falls are quite the majestic display with rainbows appearing everywhere. Catch and release fishing is allowed at the pool at the bottom of the falls, but it is far too cold for swimming.
If architecture is your thing, you’ll love a couple of days visit in Eureka. This town is loaded with 19th century homes from the Victoria era. The city is a capsule of time when the lumber industry ruled the area and high society culture ruled the social events.

Those needing tips for traveling with pets typically fall into two categories: those who really love their pets and those who really hate their pet-sitter who cancelled at the last minute. If you fall into either category and are hitting the road with some non-human companions this holiday, we have tips to keep all travelers safe and sane.
Tips for Traveling with Pets
The top tip for traveling with pets is to always put safety above everything else – including whining. Even “good riders” can cause unintended circumstances. While your cat may enjoy stretching out in the sun, a sudden scare might send him bolting to the backseat and clawing onto your shoulder. Likewise, your dog may be an awesome co-pilot, but a quick stop can cause injury. Keep pets in travel carriers at all times. And remember, California law mandates that your pet ride in a carrier or at a minimum cross-tied in truck beds.
Adding a pet to your journey will slow you down. You must stop frequently, allowing them to stretch, eat, drink and relieve themselves. Also, your quick run into the convenience store may seem an eternity to your pet. If possible, ride with someone and take turns staying with them. Above all, understand that temperatures – hot and cold – can intensify quickly for an animal locked in a car. Avoid danger and don’t leave pets unattended. When the unintended occurs, be prepared. Pack plenty of garbage bags, towels and cleaners you’ve spot tested on surfaces before your trip. Even when caged, it’s amazing how big of a mess sick animals can make.
The best tips for traveling with pets have one core: stay calm. Remember, your pet isn’t used to life on the road. Take a few precautions and deep breaths and everyone will enjoy the trip.

Our favorite mechanics, Billy Bob and Bud are out in the Audi today and have a few jokes for you.
Audi
Billy Bob and Bud took a weekend trip in the Audi to see the Monster Truck Rally at Angel Stadium. As they drove down Hwy 5 to Anaheim, they cranked up the country music and sang along.
Finally, after hours and hours of driving the see the sign “Angel Stadium left.”
“Oh, no!” they exclaimed. Disappointed, they turned around and drove back to Fremont.
A pair of jumper cables walked into a bar.
The bartender, ever suspicious of this character’s drinking behavior, told him,
“I’ll serve you, but don’t you start anything.”
Bud ran into Billy Bob at the local tavern and after the usual chit chat over a couple of bottles of PBR, the conversation turned to bragging about their kids.
Billy Bob said, “My kid Ernest is doing so great in school! He’s going to grow up to be an astronaut.”
“So what, in the future all kids will probably be astronauts,” said Bud. “But my kid will be the first to go to the sun!”
“HA!” Billy Bob laughed, “He’ll burn to a crisp even before he lands on the sun.”
“You’re an idiot, Billy Bob,” snorted Bud. “They’ll land him at night.”
Bud was out taking the Audi for a drive. He didn’t notice this part of Highway 1 went down to 35 miles per hour and was pulled over by a policeman.
The officer asked Bud, “Do you know why I pulled you over?”“Yes, I was speeding,” the defeated Bud said.
“You were going 20mph over the speed limit! What’s the hurry?” the policeman asked.
“I thought you were the cop my wife ran off with. I was sure you were chasing my Audi to try to give her back!”
